Description

The Amateur Championship, organized by The R&A, is one of the world’s most prestigious amateur golf tournaments. The 130th edition in 2025 will be held from June 16 to June 21 at Royal St. George’s Golf Club and Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club in Kent, England. The tournament begins with two rounds of stroke play qualifying, with players competing on both courses. The top 64 players from qualifying advance to the match play stage, which consists of single elimination matches of 18 holes each, except for the final which is played over 36 holes. Ties in stroke play qualifying are decided by a sudden-death playoff. The field typically features around 288 male amateurs from over 40 countries, who qualify through exemption categories and rankings. The champion receives the prestigious Amateur Championship Trophy, a gold medal, and exemptions to major professional events, provided they maintain amateur status
