Description
The Thunderbolt Invitational is a 54-hole stroke play competition held annually at Sterling Grove Golf & Country Club in Surprise, Arizona. For 2025, the event takes place from December 29–31 and features top collegiate golfers from NCAA Divisions I, II, III, NAIA, and junior colleges. The Thunderbolt was created as a complementary event to the Patriot All-America Invitational, specifically to accommodate eligible players who did not make the initial Patriot field. Entry is invitation-only, managed by the Golf Coaches Association of America. The top three finishers in the Thunderbolt receive invitations to the following year's Patriot All-America Invitational. All Thunderbolt participants are also placed on the alternate list for the Patriot. The event provides extensive amenities and programming, including practice rounds, meals, player lounges, and recognition ceremonies.
