Description

The State Open of Virginia is a 54-hole stroke play golf tournament organized jointly by the Virginia State Golf Association (VSGA) and the Middle Atlantic Section of the PGA of America. The event typically features a field of 144 professional and amateur golfers competing over three days, with a cut after 36 holes to the low 60 and ties for the final round. If necessary, a sudden-death playoff determines the champion. The tournament has been played annually since 1924 at various notable courses across Virginia, with players qualifying through exemptions and regional qualifying events
