Description

The Southwestern Amateur Championship is a prestigious 72-hole stroke play event held at the Desert Mountain Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. The 2025 tournament runs from June 11-14 on the Outlaw Course, known for its challenging layout with firm, fast fairways and significant elevation changes. The event draws a strong field of 72 men and 72 women amateur golfers with a handicap index of 1.4 or better. After 36 holes, the field is cut to the low 36 players and ties. Entry requires players to register via a Golf Genius portal between January 15 and May 15, 2025. Exempt players are accepted upon registration, while non-exempt players are notified of their status, with entry fees refunded if not selected. This invitation and qualification process ensures a high-level competitive field for one of the top amateur tournaments in the country.
