Description

The Maryland Junior Amateur is a highly competitive 54-hole stroke play tournament conducted over three days, with a cut after 36 holes to the low 30 scores plus ties and any players within eight strokes of the lead. The championship is open to male junior amateurs who are residents of Maryland or members of Maryland State Golf Association (MSGA) member clubs. Players with a Handicap Index of 4.0 or better are automatically accepted, while those between 4.1 and 7.1 may be placed on a pending list, with entry finalized about 10 days before the event. The tournament is considered the premier junior golf event in Maryland and serves as a stepping stone for participation in higher-level national amateur competitions.
