Louisiana Classics

The 40th Louisiana Classics is a longstanding college golf tournament hosted by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, a member of the Sun Belt Conference. It is held at the Oakbourne Country Club in Lafayette, Louisiana, which is a par-72 course measuring approximately 6,898 yards. The tournament follows a 54-hole format played over two days. The first day features a 36-hole shotgun start beginning at 8 a.m., and the final 18 holes are played on the second day starting with a 7:30 a.m. tee time, often with live streaming coverage on ESPN+. The event typically includes 12 college teams with strong representation from universities across various conferences including the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and others. Notable participants have included LSU (Sec), Texas A&M (Sec and defending champion), Little Rock, Illinois State, Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee, Oral Roberts, Rice, Sam Houston, South Alabama, and Texas State. The tournament is recognized as one of the oldest continuously run collegiate golf events, known for its competitive field and significance in the college golf calendar. Past champions have included LSU and Texas A&M, with notable players often making a mark here before advancing further in their golf careers.
