OPTIMIST Qualifying
About
The Optimist Golf Tournament is run by Optimist International, known for hosting one of the largest junior golf championships worldwide. The event typically features multiple district qualifying tournaments where more than 5,000 junior golfers compete annually across various age divisions. The tournament format is stroke play, with participants playing a set number of rounds according to their age division and district. Districts are each granted a specific number of qualifying spots for the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships, and golfers must meet set scoring requirements to advance. Ties for qualifying spots are resolved through tiebreakers determined by district chairs. Out-of-district golfers may compete but do not take away qualifying spots from district residents. Alternates can attend if a qualified golfer declines. The tournament usually has a field size of over 600 competitors at the international championship level.
