The Georgia Women's Amateur Championship is run by the Georgia State Golf Association (GSGA). Founded in 1930, the championship originally started as a match play event but has been strictly a stroke play competition since 1971. The format is 54 holes of individual stroke play, typically contested over three days with no cut. Entrants must be female amateur golfers who are members of a GSGA member club, residents of Georgia, and have a maximum USGA Handicap Index of 10.0. The championship attracts highly competitive female amateurs from across Georgia, competing for one of the state's most prestigious titles.
