XVI Latin American Championship
About
The XVI Latin American Championship, known as the Latin America Amateur Championship (LAAC), is a prestigious amateur golf tournament established in 2014 by the Masters Tournament, The R&A, and the USGA. The event rotates annually among top golf courses throughout Latin America and features 72 holes of stroke play over four days. The championship aims to develop amateur golf across South America, Central America, Mexico, and the Caribbean, showcasing the region’s best emerging talent. The winner receives invitations to compete in the Masters Tournament, The Open Championship, and the U.S. Open, as well as exemptions to several top amateur events. The 2025 championship was held at Pilar Golf Club in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and the upcoming 2026 event is scheduled for Lima Golf Club in Lima, Peru, a historic venue renovated to challenge the best amateurs. The event typically draws approximately 100 players from 29 countries and territories recognized by the International Olympic Committee representing Latin America.
