Western Australia Amateur

The Western Australia Amateur Championship is the premier state amateur event organized by GolfWA, traditionally regarded as one of the most prestigious tournaments on the Western Australian golfing calendar. The 2025 championship is held at Sun City Country Club from March 12–16, featuring a mixed format: 36 holes of stroke play serve as a qualifier, after which the leading 32 men and 16 women advance to a knockout match play stage to determine state champions. The field generally consists of over 100 competitors across men’s and women’s divisions, with entries determined by a handicap limit (Men: max 6.0 GA, Women: max 13.0 GA) and acceptance based on the lowest handicap ballots if oversubscribed. Participation is open to amateur golfers who meet these handicap and eligibility criteria, with qualification for match play determined solely by performance in the stroke play qualifying rounds.
