Description

The West Virginia Amateur is managed by the West Virginia Golf Association and serves as the premier state amateur golf championship. The tournament is contested over 72 holes (four rounds) of stroke play, typically welcoming 120–144 of the state’s top amateur golfers. Entry is open to both male and female amateurs who are regular members of the WVGA with an active USGA Handicap Index. Qualification may be achieved through performance in WVGA series events, direct registration for those meeting handicap and membership criteria, or through sectional qualifying tournaments if participation exceeds capacity. The event is played at top venues throughout West Virginia and features a cut after the second round to determine final-round competitors.
