Description

The Memorial Tournament presented by Workday is an elite PGA Tour event established in 1976 by Jack Nicklaus. It is held annually at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, a par-72 course measuring 7,569 yards, designed by Nicklaus himself. The tournament features a limited field of approximately 72 to 73 players, as it holds "invitational" status, which allows for more selective entry criteria than regular open PGA Tour events. Players compete over four rounds (72 holes) of stroke play with a 36-hole cut to the top 50 players plus ties and those within 10 strokes of the lead. Qualification is mainly based on invitations extended to recent winners of significant tournaments, PGA Tour members with notable achievements, major championship winners, Ryder Cup players, and sponsor exemptions; there is no open qualifying. The winner of the tournament receives a three-year PGA Tour exemption, a higher status than most standard tour events.
