Description

The 152nd Open Championship, often called The Open, is organized by The R&A and is one of golf's four major championships. This premier event is played over 72 holes in a stroke play format across four rounds over four days. The field comprises 156 competitors who qualify through various exemption categories such as past champions, winners of other major tournaments, leading players from international tours, and through local and final qualifying tournaments. After 36 holes, a cut is made to the top 70 players and ties, who then advance to the final two rounds. In the case of a tie after 72 holes, a three-hole aggregate playoff is conducted, followed by sudden death if necessary. The 152nd Open took place at Royal Troon Golf Club in Scotland in July 2024, continuing the tradition of playing on historic links courses.
