Description

The Texas Mid-Amateur Championship is a prestigious 54-hole individual stroke play event organized by the Texas Golf Association (TGA). The 42nd edition is scheduled for September 5-7, 2025, at the Cypress Creek Course of Champions Golf Club in Houston, Texas. The tournament features a field of 132 players who qualify through a combination of exemptions and an 18-hole qualifying round. After 36 holes, the field is cut to the low 54 scorers and ties for the final round. Eligibility is open to male amateur golfers aged 25 or older as of the first round, with a WHS Handicap Index of 8.4 or less. Exemptions are granted to recent Texas Mid-Am and Amateur champions, top finishers from regional Mid-Amateur events, mid-masters (ages 40+), and other notable players based on TGA criteria. The championship entry fee includes greens fees, cart, range, practice round, championship gifts, meals, and a player welcome reception. Champions Golf Club, founded by Jack Burke Jr. and Jimmy Demaret, is a historic venue known for its rolling pine tree landscape and challenging layout, recently renovated in 2018. Adam Schulte serves as the tournament director for the Texas Mid-Amateur. This event is recognized as one of Texas’s major amateur championships, attracting top mid-amateur talent for highly competitive play in a well-regarded venue.
