Description

The Tenerife Women's Open is a professional women's golf tournament organized by the Ladies European Tour (LET). Traditionally played on the Spanish island of Tenerife, it was first established in 2002. The event is typically a 72-hole stroke play format conducted over four rounds. In 2011, the format was altered to a hybrid of stroke play and match play, where the pro-am results determined the seeding for a field of 32 players who competed in two rounds of match play to narrow down to eight finalists, with the final round reverting to stroke play. After a hiatus, the tournament returned to the LET schedule in 2025, hosted at Abama Golf, a par-72 course located near Playa San Juan, Tenerife. The number of competitors can vary but generally reflects the LET's field size, often around 120 players, which includes those who qualify through the LET Qualifying School, regional qualifiers, and direct invitations. Qualification typically involves performance in previous LET events, rankings, and standing in the LET Qualifying School; for example, players finishing between 21st and 50th at the LET Qualifying School are eligible. The event offers a substantial prize fund (around €500,000 in 2025).
