Description

The SM-lyontipeli, also known as the Finnish Stroke Play Championship, is organized by the Finnish Golf Union. This championship is played over 54 holes of stroke play, spread across three consecutive days without a cut. In the event of a tie for first place, the winner is decided by a hole-by-hole playoff. Typically, the field size is limited to around 156 competitors divided into various junior and adult categories, including reserved spots for Finnish players in certain age groups. The tournament is conducted strictly under the Rules of Golf as defined by the R&A Rules Limited, with local rules applied as needed. Qualification for the event usually involves meeting handicap requirements and being selected or gaining entry through the Finnish Golf Union's criteria. The competition aims to crown the Finnish stroke play champion and awards trophies and prizes to top finishers.
