Shriners Children's Open
About
The Shriners Children's Open is a professional golf tournament on the PGA Tour held annually in October in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event, organized by the PGA Tour, takes place at the TPC Summerlin golf course. Initially founded in 1983 and originally played over five rounds (90 holes) across several courses, the tournament format has been a 72-hole stroke play event since 2004. Typical field size is about 132 competitors, comprising many of the world’s top golfers who compete for FedEx Cup points and a substantial purse, with the 2024 purse being around $7 million. Qualification for the event is primarily based on PGA Tour membership, FedEx Cup standings, sponsor exemptions, and other PGA Tour criteria. The Shriners Children's Open is notable for its charitable component supporting Shriners Hospitals for Children, and it has seen iconic moments including Tiger Woods’ first PGA Tour victory in 1996.
