Description

The Riversdale Cup is one of Australia's most prestigious and historic amateur golf tournaments, held annually at the Riversdale Golf Club in Mount Waverley, Victoria. Established in 1896 as the "Surrey Hills Gentlemen’s Championship, Gold Medal," the event was renamed the Riversdale Cup in 1927. It is Australia's second oldest amateur golf tournament and has been played nearly every year except during world wars and course renovations. The format is a 72-hole stroke play competition conducted over the March Labour Day weekend, attracting top-ranked amateur golfers from across Australia and internationally. The tournament has a rich heritage of notable champions, including Kevin Hartley who won ten times, as well as future professional stars like Robert Allenby and Aaron Baddeley. The Riversdale Cup is widely regarded for its professional organization, challenging course layout, and its role in developing elite amateur golf talent
