Description
The Pennsylvania Boys Junior Championship, officially known as the Junior Boys’ Championship & Junior Team Championship, is a premier junior golf tournament organized by the Pennsylvania Golf Association (PAGA). It typically takes place in late June, with recent venues including the Hershey Country Club, featuring top junior male players aged 14 to 18 who are members of PAGA-affiliated clubs and have a handicap index of 14.4 or lower. The event is a key part of Pennsylvania junior golf and often serves as a qualifying and ranking event within the junior golf community. The tournament is conducted over stroke play rounds, with 16 players advancing to match play for the championship bracket and additional players competing in a first flight bracket. The prestigious Peg Burnett Trophy is awarded to the champion, named after a long-time PAGA executive secretary and junior golf advocate. Reservations for entry require participants to have established handicaps and memberships aligned with PAGA requirements. The event is integrated within the PAGA junior golf competition structure, supporting the development of young amateur talent in the state.
