OPTIMIST Qualifying

OPTIMIST Qualifying tournaments are organized by local Optimist Districts leading up to the Optimist International Junior Golf Championship. Each district holds one-day stroke play events, typically over 18 holes, divided by boys and girls age divisions (e.g., Boys 10-11, 12-13, 14-15, 16-18; Girls 10-12, 13-14, 15-18). Competitor fields vary by district, usually ranging from 30 to 120 juniors per event. To qualify for the international championship, a golfer must place in one of the designated qualifying spots for their age division and meet a minimum scoring requirement preset by Optimist International. Additional “at-large” applications are considered if a district does not hold a qualifier or if make-up events are cancelled.
