Description

The Ohio Mid‑Amateur Championship is the state’s premier mid‑amateur tournament, reserved for accomplished amateurs beyond typical collegiate age. Administered by the Ohio Golf Association in partnership with rotating host clubs, the Championship is contested over multiple rounds of medal (stroke) play on a championship‑caliber course, with the champion determined by lowest cumulative strokes. Entry criteria and eligibility (including minimum age, amateur status and handicap limits) are published in the event Notice of Competition; tee assignments, yardages and division structures may be adjusted by the committee to reflect field size and course conditions. The Championship emphasizes sustained shot‑making, strategic course management and scoring consistency across all rounds, and it frequently attracts post‑college amateurs, top club players and former collegiate competitors from across Ohio and neighboring states. Beyond state bragging rights, the event can provide ranking points and visibility that support regional and national competitive opportunities. The host club typically stages practice rounds, a practice range, on‑site scoring and an awards presentation following final round play; players and spectators should consult the Ohio Golf Association for official schedules, entry procedures and championship policies.
