Northern Amateur

he Northern Amateur is a staple event of the Northern Junior Championship, held annually in Connecticut. It is played over two rounds (36 holes) of stroke play for both boys and girls divisions, drawing a field of approximately 120 of the region’s top junior and young amateur golfers. Qualifications may be achieved by direct championship application based on player resumes and performance, or by earning a spot through open local qualifiers—two separate local qualifying rounds are held, with a handful of spots per division awarded to the top finishers. Additional entries are allocated to players meeting automatic exemption criteria such as past top finishes and champion titles, and some sponsor exemptions are also given.
