Description

The N.I.T. in college golf refers to the National Golf Invitational, a postseason tournament equivalent to the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) in college basketball. Established in 2023 through a partnership between Golfweek and Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club, it takes place at Southern AK-Chin Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona. The tournament features 10 men's teams and 10 women's teams competing separately in a 54-hole stroke play format over three days. The field is invitation-only, selected by a committee based on rankings such as Golfweek/Sagarin and Golfstat, and includes mid-major programs and power conference teams with young or developing squads that did not qualify for NCAA regionals. The 2025 Men's National Golf Invitational (NGI) participants include teams from conferences like the Sun Belt, Mountain West, WAC, Pac-12, Big 12, and Big Ten. George Mason, Ohio State, Oregon State, Richmond, Stetson, Texas State, Utah State, Utah Valley, and West Virginia are among the competitors. The tournament is designed to give strong programs that missed NCAA regionals a chance to showcase their talent in a postseason setting. Contact and event details:
