Description

The Mississippi State Amateur Championship is run by the Mississippi Golf Association (MGA). The event is played over four rounds (72 holes) of stroke play, with a cut to the low 60 and ties after 36 holes. The championship usually draws a field of about 120–144 male amateur golfers. Entry is open to male amateurs who are bona fide residents of Mississippi for at least 60 days prior to the first round, have an active GHIN Handicap through a USGA Licensed Mississippi Member Club, and meet the Rules of Amateur Status as defined by the USGA. Qualifying may be required for some players, but certain players are exempt, such as past champions and high finishers from previous years.
