Description

The Jimmy Self Invitational is organized by the South Carolina Junior Golf Association (SCJGA) and is one of South Carolina's most prestigious junior golf championships. It is a 54-hole stroke play tournament, typically played over three rounds, and features boys and girls divisions for ages 13 to 19. The tournament usually draws many of the Southeast's top junior competitors, serving as a key event that offers high-level competitive experience while promoting golf's core values of honor, respect, and perseverance. Qualification is generally through junior players affiliated with SCJGA, and it is one of the four SCJGA majors. The event has been permanently held at the Arthur Hills Course at Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort on Hilton Head Island since around 2014, though it originally rotated among Greenwood Communities & Resorts properties. The tournament honors Jimmy Self, a longtime South Carolina business leader and supporter of junior golf, with a legacy stretching over three decades. It has produced notable alumni including PGA Tour winners and major champions.
