Description

The Illinois State Amateur Championship, organized by the Chicago District Golf Association (CDGA), is the premier amateur golf tournament in Illinois. The 2025 event took place July 15-17 at Stonebridge Country Club in Aurora, Illinois. The format is a 72-hole stroke play competition over three days: 18 holes on day one, 18 holes on day two with a cut to the low 35 players and ties, followed by 36 holes on the final day to determine the champion. The winner earns an automatic exemption into the U.S. Amateur Championship for that year. The championship has a rich history dating back to 1931 and transitioned from match play to stroke play in 1963. It consistently attracts the strongest amateur golfers in the state and is highly regarded for its competitive field and challenging course setups.
