Grier Jones Shocker Invitational

The Grier Jones Shocker Invitational is a collegiate men's golf tournament hosted by Wichita State University at Sand Creek Station Golf Club in Newton, Kansas. The event is held over three days, typically in early October, featuring 54 holes of stroke play with one round played each day on a par-72 course measuring around 7,187 yards. The tournament fields about 17 teams, including programs such as Dodge City CC, Drake, Incarnate Word, Northern Iowa, South Dakota State, Southern Indiana, St. Thomas (MN), and Wichita State. Each team generally fields five players, with the top four scores counting toward the team total. Wichita State has won the tournament in past editions, which is named after Grier Jones, their winningest coach in program history and a Golf Coaches Association of America Hall of Fame inductee. The competition is highly regarded and draws strong collegiate fields from across the region.
