Description

The Florida Azalea Amateur is a long-standing amateur tournament held each spring at Palatka Golf Club in Palatka, Florida. The championship flight is contested over three rounds (54 holes) of medal play, typically with a cut after 36 holes. The field is usually limited (for example, the 68th annual tournament limited to 200 players across six flights) with players of various skill levels competing in six flights. Entry is open to amateurs holding a valid Handicap Index®, and the event has earned points for ranking systems (e.g., top 20 finishers earn GolfWeek/WAGR points). The tournament has deep roots — originating as a two-man team event in 1958 — and has served as a proving ground for competitive amateurs on Florida’s historic Donald Ross-designed layout at Palatka.
