The tournament is open to boys and girls ages 12 to 19 and features a field size of 78 players. This tournament does not have a cut. Entry into the event follows AJGA Performance Star exemptions: the top 3 players are fully exempt, the top 10 require 12 Performance Stars, the top 15 need 8 Stars, the top 25 require 4 Stars, and making the cut (if applicable) requires 2 Stars. Girls have a similar exemption structure, with the top 3 fully exempt and the top 5 requiring 12 Stars. Players confirm their participation through the AJGA Player Center. An 18-hole qualifier event is held before the championship at Valley Hi Country Club, offering 6 spots for boys and 3 spots for girls. Practice rounds are regulated with 60-minute limits per player and monitored by AJGA staff. Player registration is mandatory and is conducted at the host facility prior to play. The callout includes a strong field of junior golfers from various states and countries, including past AJGA champions and college commitments. The tournament enjoys community support and provides an excellent competitive environment.
