Essex Ladies County Golf Championships

The Essex Ladies County Golf Championships are organized by the Essex Ladies County Golf Association (ELCGA). The main Women's County Championship is played over three days, starting with a 36-hole qualifying stroke play round on day one played off scratch. The top 16 then advance to match play stages over the next two days, culminating in a final to decide the champion. The Senior Women’s County Championship follows a similar format over three days, beginning with an 18-hole stroke play qualifying round followed by match play rounds. Typically, clubs enter teams of 5 players for various competitions, with players ordered by handicap. Juniors under 18 may also participate with parental permission. Entry is online and subject to handicap limits, with draws and match arrangements managed by the County Office. Matches are played over 18 holes, with handicaps applied in team matches as per set allowance rules. Final matches take place on neutral courses, with all results submitted online promptly.
