Description

The Championnat de France Par Equipes - Trophée Gounouilhou is the premier men's team golf championship in France, established in 1926. It is the French national inter-club championship where sixteen of the country's top amateur golf clubs compete annually for the prestigious Gounouilhou Trophy. The event format traditionally involves match play between clubs with teams of six players, including morning foursomes and afternoon singles matches, although the format was updated post-2009 to two foursomes and five singles matches. The championship has a rich heritage, with the first edition won by Golf de Chantilly, and over the decades it has become the most coveted club competition in French amateur golf, attracting elite players including notable professionals like Thomas Levet and Jean Van de Velde during their amateur careers. The tournament is organized by the Fédération Française de Golf (FFGolf) and hosted at premier golf courses across France. It is renowned for fostering team spirit and competitive excellence among French golf clubs.
