Description

The CGA Carolinas Women's Amateur Championship is organized by the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA). The event dates back to 1922 and was taken over by the CGA in 2013. This championship annually crowns the women's amateur golf champion in the Carolinas. It is played over 54 holes of stroke play, divided into a Championship division and a Carolinas division that features a shorter course. The Championship division involves gross scores only, and players are flighted based on 36-hole scores, while the Carolinas division includes gross and net scores with pre-flighting based on Handicap Index®. Typically, the event hosts a field of female amateur golfers who are residents of North or South Carolina, are at least 13 years old by the tournament date, and are members in good standing of a CGA member club with an active USGA Handicap Index®. The tournament schedule usually spans three days, with the first two days featuring 18 holes of stroke play each, followed by a final round of 18 holes on the last day, often using a shotgun start. Qualification is primarily through affiliation with a CGA member club and meeting the residency and handicap criteria.
