Central Open
About
The Central Open golf tournament is a traditional stroke play competition typically played over 72 holes, with 18 holes played each day over four days. The tournament field usually consists of a mix of amateur and professional players, generally totaling around 120 to 156 competitors. There is often a cut after the first two rounds, where only the top 70 players and ties advance to the final rounds. Players qualify through a combination of local qualifying events, amateur and professional rankings, and invitations extended by the organizing golf association. The groupings usually consist of threesomes for the initial rounds, with leaders teeing off last. If players are tied after 72 holes, a playoff system is used to determine the winner.
