Description

The CDGA Amateur Championship, organized by the Chicago District Golf Association, is one of the oldest and most prestigious amateur golf tournaments in the Midwest. The format begins with 36 holes of stroke play qualifying on the first day to determine the low 16 players who then advance to match play. The match play portion includes four rounds of matches, culminating in a 36-hole championship match. The event is open to CDGA members with a Handicap Index of 7.4 or lower, and the top eight quarterfinalists from the previous year receive an exemption into qualifying. The tournament is held annually at different courses within the Chicago district and tests both stroke play and match play skills.
