Canterbury Matchplay

The Canterbury Match Play Championship 2025 is one of the biggest golf events in the Canterbury region of New Zealand, held at Harewood Golf Club. With a rich history dating back nearly 120 years, the event features multiple divisions including men’s, women’s, masters, and under-19 categories. The format is match play preceded by a stroke play qualifying round to determine seedings and field cut. The competition usually attracts over 60 competitors across divisions, vying through knockout rounds to the final. Players qualify based on prior performance and rankings within the Canterbury Golf area. The tournament is highly competitive with tough course conditions including thick rough and strong winds, creating an excellent test for participants.
