Description

The Boyd Quaich Memorial Tournament is hosted by the University of St Andrews at the historic Old Course and New Course in St Andrews, Scotland, and welcomes university student golfers from across the globe. The event consists of four rounds of stroke play: all competitors play one round each on the Old Course and New Course, after which a cut is made—typically the top 24 men and top 9 women proceed—then two more rounds determine the final standings. Approximately 72 student golfers compete annually, with the field comprised of international university students. To qualify, competitors must be enrolled at a university and submit an entry via the tournament website, often accepted on a first-come, first-served basis pending eligibility. The event honors brothers Quentin and Anthony Boyd, former St Andrews students killed in WWII, with an emphasis on international goodwill and student camaraderie.
